Beware of SCAMS
A growing number of duct cleaning advertisement scams have been recently uncovered in Florida and surrounding states. These ads claim whole house duct cleaning or unlimited vents can be cleaned for $49.00, $69.00 or $99.00. When the sales person examines your home he shows you a proposal well over a $1000.00. The sales person may explain that the whole house cleaning does not include the Return Ducting, or the Trunk Line (the main branch of your ductwork) or the Interior of the Air Handler (the source of all your dirty ductwork issues). In some cases the technician may explain that you have either a Level 1, 2 or 3 mold contamination which is a code he will use when calling his boss to get you a discount. If you are unhappy with the price he then calls his boss, tells him your level of contamination, and asks for help with the price. The technician then explains that they can give a 10, 20 to 30% discount off the price and urges you to sign off for the work quickly. Do not fall for this! They will test for mold with a self applied mold test kit which turns color when mold is present. The mold test kit is not independently reviewed and may already be contaminated. This is a total scam!!! They seek to scam women, the elderly, and the sick. Don’t let this happen to you!
Here is a report done by Inside Edition reporter Lisa Guerrero that reveals how duct cleaning scams are unfortunately done every day.
It’s impossible to provide quality services by screened & trained technicians who are licensed, bonded, and certified for $49.00, or even $149.00! Most reputable companies provide duct cleaning services which start with the interior of the Air Handler and include all Supply & Return ductwork to the grilles. A skilled team of two technicians usually takes 3 to 5 hours to clean the air handler and ductwork on an average 1200 square ft. home. You should expect to pay $449.00 or more for a quality duct cleaning service! Contact us today for more information.
